The CME is composed of four contract divisions. The symbology is consistent among them. Both futures and options on futures are traded.
The CME currently trades in two sessions, Regular Trading Hours (RTH) and a Globex session (GBX). See the Instruments & Symbols tables for the different hours for each session.
The symbol template for futures is Smy where S is the symbol, m is the month code, and y is the last digit of the year.
The symbol template for RTH Options is -Smsss where S is the symbol, m is the month code, and sss is a two- or three-digit strike price.
The symbol template for GBX Options is -Smyssss where S is the symbol, m is the month code, y is the last digit of the year, and ssss is a four digit strike price.
The symbol template for Weekly Options is -Swsss where S is the symbol, w is the week code, and sss is a two- or three-digit strike price.
Note: Options on futures require a "negative sign" or "dash" (-) before the symbol.
Strike Price: RTH = 2 or 3 digits / GBX = 4 digits
